多益常考的固定用法~除了多益之外，有寫作需求的同學們也可以把這些用法學起來唷!
1.abstain from戒絕、戒除
The doctor advised me to abstain from the use of alcohol and tobacco.
醫生建議我戒菸和酒。
He took a vow to abstain from alcohol.
他發誓要戒酒。
2.account for就…作出解釋
Can you account for your absence last Monday?
你能解釋一下上週一你為甚麼缺席嗎？
3.ask for要求、索要
I asked for a quite room on the first floor of the hotel.
我要求旅館二樓的一個安靜的房間。
4.assure of向…保證
The unions assured the new owners of the workers' loyalty to the company.
工會向新企業主保證，工人們對公司是忠誠的。
5.bargain with (someone) for (something) 向…討價還價
I bargained with the dealer for more than three hours for that antique.
他向賣家討價還價那個古董超過三個小時。
6.care for照顧
The children are being cared for by a relative.
孩子們由一位親戚照料著。
7.caution (someone) against (something/one) 告誡、提醒
The newspaper cautioned its readers against buying shares without getting good advice first.
報紙告誡讀者事先沒有獲得好的建議，就不要購買股票。
8.deal in經營、經銷、買賣
He deals in diamonds and precious stones.
他買賣鑽石以及奇珍異石。
9.deal with（尤指工作上）與（某人）打交道、對付、 處理、動手解決
She's used to dealing with difficult customers.
她已經習慣了與難纏的顧客打交道。

10.disagree with 不同意
I disagree with you completely.
我完全不同意你的說法。
11.entrust to 委託、交托、託付
I’m afraid to entrust anything valuable to him.
我不敢將任何貴重的物品託付給他。
12.entrust with 委託、交托、託付
I’m afraid to entrust him with anything valuable.
我不敢將任何貴重的物品託付給他。
13.fall in love with與…墜入愛河
He fell in love with her at first sight.
他第一眼就愛上她了。
14.guess at猜測、推測、想像
There are no photographs of him, so we can only guess at what he looked like.
沒有他的照片，所以我們只能猜測他的長相。
15.hear from收到（某人）的訊息
We haven't heard from her for ages.
我們已經很久沒有她的消息了。
16.hear of (about) 聽說…的事情、聽說過
There may be such a place, but I’ve never heard of (about) it.
可能有那個地方，但我從沒聽說過。
Have you heard about (of) Joe’s trip to South America?
你有聽說Joe的南美洲之旅的故事嗎?
17.interfere in干涉
Interfering in other people's relationships is always a mistake.
干涉他人談戀愛從來都是不對的。
18.interfere with干預
Don’t let your family interfere with your work.
別讓你的家人干預你的工作。
19.laugh at大笑、取笑
They laughed at her jokes.
聽了她講的笑話他們都笑了。
I can't go into work looking like this - everyone will laugh at me.
我不能這個樣子去工作——大家會取笑我的。
20.object to反對
I don’t object to people having fun, but you’re keeping the whole neighborhood awake!
我不反對玩樂，但你吵到讓整個社區的人都沒辦法睡覺了。
21.pay for為…付出代價
We all pay for our mistakes in some way at some time.
我們都會在某個時候以某種方式為我們所犯的錯誤付出代價。
22.prefer… to …更喜歡
I prefer going to the gym to jogging on the street.
比起在街上慢跑，我更喜歡去健身房。
23.punish for因…被處罰
He was punished for a crime he didn’t commit.

24.quote from引用、引述
The teacher likes to quote long passages from Shakespeare.

He's always quoting from the Bible.

25.reason with與（某人）講道理
You can’t reason with an angry man.
你沒辦法跟盛怒的人講道理。
he police reasoned with the hijackers to at least let the children go free.
員警勸說劫持犯，讓他們至少把孩子們放了。
26.rely on/upon依賴
I'm relying on the garage to fix the car by tomorrow.
我就指望修車廠能在明天之前修好我的車了。
27.remind sb of sth使想起（類似的人或物）
Your hair and eyes remind me of your mother.
看到你的頭髮和眼睛就使我想起了你媽媽。
28.subscribe to 訂閱
I have subscribed to the English teaching magazine.
我有訂閱那個英語教學雜誌。
29.substitute for用…代替
Gas-fired power stations will substitute for less efficient coal-fired equipment.
以煤氣為燃料的發電站將會代替效率較低的燃煤裝置。
30.succeed in在…取得成功
He succeeded quite well in business but not so well in his personal life.
他在事業上相當成功但是在個人生活上卻沒有如此成功。
I succeeded in persuading him to come on the trip with us.
我成功地說服他跟我們一起去旅遊
31.think about 考慮
He needs to think about it carefully before making a decision.
在下決定前他必續仔細的考慮這件事。
32.vote against表示反對
I voted against going on that trip.
我對去那個旅行表示反對。
33.vote for 表示贊成、投票
Who did you vote for?
你投給誰?
34.wait for等待
I have been waiting for the bus for over an hour.
我已經等巴士等了一個多小時了。
35.wish for希望、許願
If you had three wishes, what would you wish for first?
如果你有三個願望，你想先許什麼願呢?
